Things to know about copper
All of Copper Art Designs products are subject to changes in coloration due to copper's natural tendency to react with the air causing oxidation which is similar to rust. Unlike rust on other metals the oxidation that occurs on copper is referred to as patina and creates its own protective layer sealing the copper from further corrosion.
If left outside you may notice that your copper piece can be effected by weathering and this oxidation will occur at a higher frequency than if your piece is displayed indoors. For items displayed indoors regular dusting should keep the piece looking shiny and new but there may also be a slight darkening in tone over time.
If you start to notice any undesired buildup on the copper piece that dusting cannot remove, it is safe to scrub lightly with a soft sponge and warm soapy water. Be careful not to use cleaning products that may contain acids as they have the potential to corrode the copper piece further.
